This is what each letter of the migrain model means and we have related it to our media product:
M: Medium. This is what the type of media the product is, for example magazines, films, trailers
Ours is an opening sequence to a film.
I: Ideology. This is the values, beliefs and ideas that people have in society.
Our product will challenge these as murder is not a common belief.
G: Genre. This is the type of film that it is for example horror, comedy, action and thriller.
Our product is horror
R: Representation. This is what is portrayed in media products. For example in films, the director represents the characters how they want the audience to see them.
In our sequence, the main character is represented as a murderer and the other characters are represented as vulnerable.
A: Audience. This is the type of people who will be interested in the product for example the age group.
The target audience for our film are teenagers, aged 15 - 24.
I: Institution. This is the company that produces and distributes films, for example Lions Gate, Columbia pictures and twisted pictures.
We have not decided yet which one we will use, however, we think we are going to use one that specialises in the horror genre.
N: Narrative. This is the story line and the events that happen.
The basic storyline for our sequence is about a murderer who kills lots of people.
